Yes they are. Longer wait than I anticipated, but better than I imagined it would be at the beginning

Thanks! Patrick deserves all of the credit. He did everything...all I had to do was pay for it lol

Also...

Here are a couple of "last minute" quick phone photos to show the sound port that he added and the VERY cool Koa/Ebony tuner buttons (on Gold Gotohs) that Patrick added for me as well. These two items completed this sweet package for me.

If I am not mistaken, he moved shop in the middle of this as well right? I don't know any details and don't need to, but that certainly had to affect the time table?

BTW I still have mine and it is a beauty as well and sounds out of this world.

That said, this guitar is now finished. So I want to add a few of the missing "process" pics, and then in my next post I will give you all the completed pics with some comments from my 40 year veteran luthier who is Taylor and Martin certified. His comments will give you an outsider's point of view on this guitar and the builder.

So here are a few from the build process now completed:

Check out the very cool herringbone trim on the inside braces!!

Oversize Gold EVO frets surrounding Patrick's own two tone (MOP/Paua Abalone diamonds.

I haven't seen numbered pins very often

What I see in Patricks work is a level of "attention to detail" that is really rare and that I have not seen often over the past several hundred guitars I've owned from some pretty well known builders both custom and otherwise. I think as you look at the photos, you'll see a level of perfectionism that is readily accepted in a custom build.

The next post will provide some finished photos. Stay tuned!
Thanks Mike for the very kind words. I mean WOW, I couldn’t have written a better endorsement.

I am Really pleased you are enjoying the guitar. It’s been great working with you.

Comparing my work so favorably along side the many special guitars you have had and have had commissioned - I am humbled.

Furthermore, it is always daunting, scary even, to have another luthier - especially one with such vast experience look over your work. And to give it thumbs up, I must be doing something right.

I’ve got some catching up to do on the AGF so you’ll be hearing from me more often.

Thanks Mike

Patrick

Hi Tom,

You are correct - We moved soon after the build started which threw all schedules out the window. And I completely underestimated the time it would take to get the shop back up and running. The family and new home came first, then me and the shop. Oh wait, remember Henry the golden retriever, he was ahead of me too. LOL.

I’m glad your Koa/German spruce is treating you well. Perhaps I will see you at B.I.G sometime.

Patrick

Thanks Paul! You'd like this one for sure. That said, with so many sweet guitars customized to the "Nth" degree, you have no shortage of great things to play. Given the geographic distance between us, it's unlikely you'll play this one. But if you get a chance to put your hands on one of Patrick's guitars (possibly at the next B.I.G.??), for sure pick it up and play it...you'll be smiling for sure!!

Thanks Dennis! I hope you are staying healthy as well and playing all those beauties that you have as much as they (and you) deserve.

Frog
Hey Brad,

We sure had a great time at LaConner. You and Ben are an awesome performing talent. Despite unruly luthiers in the audience, LOL - great memories. So disappointing that the 2020 show schedule was shelved.

Looking forward to the Warhorse Nautilus build posts

Patrick

Congrats on that gorgeous guitar!!! I miss having a Koa guitar. Maybe your build will inspire me to pick Koa for my next custom build.

The rosette on your Morrissey looks a lot like the custom rosette on my Beneteau CS (yours is on top, mine is the bottom photo):

Hopefully you will get many years of enjoyment from your new guitar.

Sure enough, almost kissin' cousins!! Yours is a beauty as well. Typically Koa has been a hit and miss proposition for me. This one definitely in the "hit" category. Appreciate the kind words! Thanks!

Hopefully you will get many years of enjoyment from your new guitar.
