Since you brought up the subject....... Here are the results of a survey conducted by Hagerty Insurance. Most of you probably don't know who Hagerty is. They are the largest insurance company of collector cars. I have my two old Mustangs insured with them. The survey dates back 10 years to January of 2005. At that time the results were.....
HPN’s survey results of “Hollywood’s Top Movie Cars,” originally included in the Spring 2004 issue of Protection on Wheels, was once again in print — this time in The Wall Street Journal. The December 24 article (in “Hollywood Report” on page W3 if you can get a copy) included the HPN survey results, which originated from an HPN online survey last March. About 10,000 HPN members took the survey. Here’s the excerpt: “It’s hard to imagine “Dukes” without the General Lee. One survey of nearly 10,000 car enthusiasts by Hagerty Insurance, a Traverse City, Mich., specialist in the car-collector market, ranks it No. 1 in popularity, besting the 1968 Ford Mustang driven by Steve McQueen in “Bullitt,” the Batmobile and James Bond’s Aston Martin DB5…” The article goes on to discuss the new Dukes of Hazzard movie — which will still star the top winner of our survey, the ’69 Dodge Charger, General Lee. Other winners in our survey included, in order starting with No. 2: ’68 Mustang in Bullitt; Eleanor, the ’67 Shelby in Gone in Sixty Seconds; ’83 souped-up DeLorean in Back to the Future; Batmobile from the Batman TV series; James Bond’s ’63 Aston Martin; ’77 Pontiac Firebird T/A in Smokey and the Bandit; ’63 Volkswagen in The Love Bug; ’74 Ford Torino in Starsky & Hutch; and finally, Black Beauty in the 1966 series Green Hornet. There have been more possibilities for the roster since that time. Maybe I can find a current list. Found one! Enjoy the ride.

I'd be willing to bet that you have never seen an original Excalibur Model J. They date back to 1952 and they were race cars. They were designed by Brooks Stevens (a well known industrial and automotive designer). The chassis was from a Henry J car. The cars were based in Milwaukee. When I stated going to sports car races at Wilmont, Road America and the track that utilized the infield at the Milwaukee Mile; I would see these cars race.
Here is a short story on the 3 cars. http://www.american-automobiles.com/Excalibur-J.html I specifically remember the Jaguar powered car. It was raced and maintained by Hal and Bill Ulrich. I believe the first photo is the Ulrich car. With Hal in the drivers seat and Bill to the right. Here are a few photos of the Excalibur Model J. The start of the 1955 Sebring Race. That is probably the Jaguar powered car as the Willis engine cars would not be competitive against the cars behind it.

The General Lee is indeed a desirable car, but c'mon now fellahs ...... She'd need them doors un-welding !
How many of us here could hack jumping in and out the windows ?!! I looked for a pic of the boys as they are today, hoping they'd weigh about 450 lbs. apiece,,,, but the swines have managed to stay in pretty good shape ! |

As a kid, I was pretty obsessed with the Lamborghini Countach (yes, I had the posters).
Back then, I loved the Automan Lamborghini: Don't remember that show? It had a VERY short run. Although I didn't like it at the time, I love the look of Stallone's car in Cobra: I loved the Bond Lotuses as well. Don't really care for the special features; I just thought the cars were cool. |

I think I would have to spring for the GTO in one of the earlier Fast n Furious movies.

I really liked this movie as a kid. It was a bit of an odd plot, but I liked it mainly for the Challenger.

Yep. First thing I thought of, and definitely my answer too.
My 4 year old is currently obsessed with batman, and the 1966-67 series is his favorite...we've spent many a cold night this winter watching episodes on DVD, making our own "batmobile" on the floor with the cushions from the couch...alas, I always have to be a "bad guy." |

I used to have a Rat Patrol lunch box when I was a kid. I'm surprised they haven't made a movie based on that show.
