A friend of mine in grammar school had an uncle with one of those. In fact, it was that same color. Quite the scene when he picked up my friend at school in that thing circa 1968!

I remember those amphibious cars! I saw a few of them back in the 60s.

Neighbor had an amphibicar when I was a kid. He took my dad and I fishing in it once. An experience I'll never forget.

Amphibicar was an interesting idea. Boaterhome just looks to me like another toy for people with way too much money.

Do Boatman and Robin use the Boatmobile to fight crime in Gotham City's port?

Once when we were heading to the ramp to put our boat in the water there was an Amphicar ahead of us. We got to see him just head right down the ramp while shifting the car into prop drive. The props spun, the car drove directly in, and off he went.

Bob, thanks for posting. As a kid in Michigan, I recall actually seeing one of these drive out of the lake, up the boat ramp, and then down the road. Amazing.

Maybe that's what the fins were for on those 50s models.

There's an island in Lake Erie, west of Cleveland, called South Bass Island. There's a town on it called Put in Bay and it's total party central during the summers. I played up there for years. There's at least one of those amphibious cars up there, if not more. They do a car parade every Sunday afternoon and I saw it on the road and go in the water many times over the years. Very cool.

Check this out! Apparently there's a gathering of these cars in Put in Bay from time to time. https://www.millerferry.com/event/amphicar-swim-in/

There was a guy who had one on Wixom Lake and I had the same experience. I was probably 7 or so.
