Thanks Tony. I had no idea and I'm only concerned about tradition with brands like Martin and Gibson. Otherwise, anything goes...

Looking great!! I'm very excited to see what happens with that big chunk taken out of the fretboard! is this something Ray has done before?

Ray has done lots of fingerboard inlays in the past but I know he usually likes to be creative and come up with different things each time. He pretty much had carte blanche with this guitar -- except the rosette.

As I was typing the question, I realized the words, "is this something Ray has done before", were kinda foolish. The originality of the guitar is part of what makes them Kraut guitars! I think leaving the lutherie up to the luthier is the right way to go! Congrats on the progress of a beautiful guitar

With pleasure. Do you mind if I charge you $250 for shipping?

Send me a certified cheque -- or just PM me your credit card number. Once cleared, the guitar will be on its way...

For $250 it better be well packed but I accept your offer! Check your PM box for all of my bank info and credit card numbers. I also threw in my social security number just to be safe!
Information. It gets you stuff!

Hi Steve,

I just read the old emails from Ray.

The scoop is designed to show the mahogany underneath it. With the frets bridging over the gap, I think it will look very different and special indeed...

I can't wait to see the final result!
