Smile WTB good case for a Weissenborn

Just scored a Weissenborn with a joke of a case.

Anyone got a good case for a standard size Weissenborn?

Thanks and a very Merry Christmas to all!

Cheers

Paul

Paul
if you will send me some specs of your weissenborn(lower bout width, depth at endpin, total length), I can check fit for you.

I took a Taylor hardshell from a x12 model and removed and cut away height for the neck region, and it fit perfect.

If you want a softshell case, the Academy(which is the Big Baby case) usually fits a weissenborn perfect also.

Smile Thank you Darylcrisp!!!

Thanks Daryl. It is a real mid 20's Weissenborn. Shallow. It is with my Tech Pat Quinn now as it needs Tuners and they aren't original anyway... but the rest of it IS original. Patina galore... light as a feather. Unbelievable light!
When it comes home I can check.
Good tip about the Taylor CG case. I currently have it in a very protective Access hard bag. But a real case would be nice! Maybe one of my pals at Taylor can find a beater X-12 case...

Thanks all.

Paul

here are pics of my Jason Bowerman BL(15 1/4" lower bout width, 3 3/16" depth at endpin) in an unmodified taylor x12 case to give you an idea of how it would look, the big baby soft shell(which is what i use all the time for it), and a basic flat top TKL OM size, with the modification done to the interior compartment. You remove the pieces of the compartment, cut them down, recover, and it makes a really good landing for a large area of the under neck. You still have a small compartment large enough for some slides and tuner, pack of strings, thumbpicks.
The weissenborn sits flush inside, like a regular guitar just deeper, when the compartment is modified. The Taylor case is definitely nicer, but will take a little longer work day to do a nice job, but is real classy when you finish.

hope this gives you some ideas.

and the big baby, which i highly prefer, but i'm a gigbag type person. I like the big outside zippered pocket as i carry slides cased in a thick soft bag, strings, paper music, and a 15 foot amp cord. and it all slings over a shoulder and carries easy, and much lighter than the hardshells.

Smile Thanks Darylcrisp

Thanks Darylcrisp!!!

I use the Taylor dreadnought size hard bags all the time. But the neck block would need to go.
I wonder if the Big Baby bag would fit in the Dreadnought bag, which will usually fit a LKSM 12 if finessed with much care!

The only time I use a serious hard case is when I am shipping. Except for The LKSM 12.
But I am my own roadie, (as well as driver, booking agent, singer, drummer, guitar tech, slide player, Harmonica player, and rhythm guitarist.). Haha

One way to keep the band together.

Cheers

Paul

Smile Lotta work...

Hey Woodbox.

It is a lot of work!

But now less work than when I was a singing drummer/bandleader! But I have always been a glutton for musical punishment... haha

Still looking for a regular Weissenborn case.

Thanks all for the tips and info!

Cheers

Paul
