Default 1952 Gibson Southern Jumbo....TRADED

TRADED...Selling a very nice Southern Jumbo from 1952 . No cracks, some play wear and some lacquer checking . No work needed and action is great. Sound clip attached. A tough decision to sell but decided to keep my J-45 instead. $5500 net to me. Newer Gibson case.

So, did you end up selling your '52 Southern Jumbo? I'm a player and collector and, for my next "Dream Guitar" and, since my birth year is 1961, I'm on a pretty specific quest for a '61 Martin D-18 in 'Good' to 'VG+' formal condition. That being said, I've not closed my mind to an alternative vintage (50's to early 60's) guitar like your SJ. I know a fair bit about evaluating vintage Martin's and Gibson's and, from your photos, your guitar appears to be worth every penny of your asking price. My "long way around the barn" question is have you had the guitar formally appraised at that price or did you simply arrive at the price based on your own experience? Eric

I must say that looks like one of the nicer Gibsons I have seen for sale lately!

Beautiful. That would pair well with my '52 J-45!

Sounds to me like it's something you've just gotta pull the trigger on! I would but, as the seller knows, for me "want" and "need" are completely different scenarios. I "need" (well, OK, closer to even odds on the "want"/"need" scale) a '61 D-18. Been searching for just the right one for a long time. I've got a lot of time invested in that quest. But a guy with a '52 J-45 ready for the perfect pairing, now that looks a lot closer to me to be "need!"[emoji1663]

It certainly is tempting...

It's a beauty and a relative bargain IMO.

Terry sent me some more photos and everything is as it should be.

This is a GORGEOUS guitar with the perfect amount of wear and, based on the sound clip, it's "all there"!!!
If I wasn't so smitten with my '50 J-45 this would be the ONE!
