Default 1981 Martin D-18 (Kimsey) SOLD

SOLD

I didn't have the work done, but through an email exchange with Bryan Kimsey, was able to confirm that he did his thing on it. The person I bought it from thought the the job was done in 2106.

In any event, here's what BK did on this D18:
- neck reset
- refret of 1st 15 frets
- full brace scallop
- small black locust bridge plate replaced original large rosewood one
- tuners replaced with oval open-back Gotohs
- black pickguard replaced with 30's style beveled tortoise guard
- head stock polished
- bridge pin holes correctly slotted
- unslotted ebony bridge pins
- replaced nut and saddle

The result, in a nutshell; a lightweight, responsive, articulate D18 with great note separation, bass and trebles. I'm a light gauge player, but this guitar deserves mediums.

A couple of scars on it, but nothing critical. I'll gladly send you pictures of the offending areas.

Non-original case (brand new TKL).

Copied and pasted these pics from my craigslist ad. I'll replace them, probably tonight.

I can vouch for Steve and this D18. It's the real deal, and so is Steve. He and I have done a few deals together, and he is a straight shooter and all-around good guy.

I have also had Bryan Kimsey work on two of my instruments, including a '73 D35. What Bryan can do to enhance a Martin dread is nothing short of amazing. Just check out his youtube channel. https://www.youtube.com/results?sear...y=brian+kimsey

Wow, that looks like a crazy good deal. If it was an 80 I might have to do something my wife wouldn’t like.

When I look at the image in the case at an angle I want to reach out and pick that baby up by the fret board. Bet it plays and sounds wonderful. Shoulder/neck aside I'd still like to have something like this.

Thanks for all the kind words and interest, good people.

The guitar is sold.

Keith, I thought you sold your J-35 and Larrivee?
