Well, I've been "out of the loop" for quite a while with some changes professionally that have me very busy. But, I took a few minutes this afternoon to glance at a few builds and found this one. Congratulations all around for a GORGEOUS guitar...to John for building it and to Tom for choosing well! I like everything about it...wouldn't change a thing. of course, the persimmon is just stunning!

Wow, a burst - I wasn't expecting that. Very nice!

The persimmon looks AWESOME, as I was expecting.

Wow--the burst really ties in nicely with the colors in the rosette!

Thanks for noticing that. It was a goal and i guess i got pretty close. Also did you notice that the rosette was lighter in the dark part of the top and darker in the light part?

I did indeed--that how I became aware of how well the colors complemented each other.

Great work as always!

Thanks Paul
You could rethink a burst like this one with that abalone rosette there would be some serious popping.

Thanks. Glad you like it. I think the whole top will look even better when the blue tape is replaced with a rosewood bridge.

I'm a big fan of that burst finish! It really sets off the shadow in the rosette. In the pictures it really gives the abalone bound section a very 3-dimensional look.

Thanks, John did most of the design work on this guitar, but I did ask him for one of his shadow rosettes that I had seen him do in the past for exactly that 3D look you describe. I think the woods he picked and the way he laid them out in relation to the burst is really well done!
