Thanks Tom! I was fortunate enough to find another back and side set of the Fiddleback Tree that I expect to have tomorrow. The first Greta model I made had great tone and I expect no less on this Josie model.

.. what stunners ! The fiddleback is great even without finish, man.... and the Piña is just unbelieveable... I love cocobolo anyway, but that figure on the rosewood is just jumping out... What a great looking combo !

Cocobolo is a beautiful wood. There just isn't another quite like it. Thanks for commenting!

Back to the Fiddleback Tree Josie. I have the headstock overlay glued on. I almost always do a Maple purfling line under the fretboard which continues out under the headplate. In this case because I have a Maple neck I'm using black and Maple lines to keep the contrast.



Here I am gluing up the headstock back laminate. This is Thuya burl:





Meanwhile I am also gluing on the Cocobolo end graft:

I did a little clean up this morning on parts I glued up yesterday. Here is the back of the headstock with Thuya burl and the Cocobolo end graft:

Thuya burl is a wonderful wood. It is east to carve and looks and smells wonderful. It is very resinous though, so you go through a lot of sandpaper working with it.

I mentioned earlier that I found another Fiddleback Tree back and side set. I was happily surprised when this came available as I like working with this wood and have had great success getting the tone I wanted from it. This is likely the last Fiddleback Tree set I will have and it is another beauty:

Back to the Fiddleback guitar at hand:



We're going with a multi wood center strip on the back of the Hard Maple neck. The woods will be the same woods I'm using on the guitar, Maples, Cocobolo, and Thuya burl. On the picture above I am selecting out an cutting a 1/4" strip of the glued together tiles.
That's a trick. Running a saw through a variety of woods with different densities glues together and only .050" thick is just asking for a little explosion!
I have to say I am really glad I put the money out for this little table saw:



That is a tight close-up of that .050" edge right off the saw. It's actually a shiny edge! And no small explosions!



This line will be shaped and bordered in black-Maple-black purfling

Thanks! I’ll have that in shortly. I’ll lay it in after the neck is carved. Today I fit the neck and roughed out the heel.
