Default Chasing a tone, part II

I think I may have stumbled onto the right path. I just used my Zoom H5 to the south side of the sound hole, so with mics I'll probably get a clearer recording:

My recording:

Steven Wake's recording

The second file sounds so much cleaner than the first. Stay on that path.

The first recording is mine, the second is Stephen Wake's. I clarified my post subsequent to your response.

Ahh... then I'm afraid there's still quite a bit of noise.

Barry,

You have a lot more background noise in your recording than the Wake recording. Are both presented as “raw” recordings with no post processing? Can you isolate and remove the background noise with your DAW software?

Thanks for documenting your efforts.

Bob, yes I can do more noise removal tonight. The "Wake" recording is from his original mp3.

Do you use a compass? What happens if you turn 90 degrees to the right, is this now west or east of the sound hole?

No and no. Don't have noise in the background when recording. Do not depend on noise removal post recording. OTOH sound is pretty good otherwise.

Thanks Rick. I wasn't too worried about the noise as it was a "quick and dirty" recording approach. I was more interested in the EQ'ing involved.
