Talking 2006 Martin 00028NB. $3000

MARTIN 00028NB “NORMAN BLAKE MODEL”

For your consideration, a very tough to find limited Martin gem! This particular NB is #239 of a limited run of 333 and is simply beautiful to look at with exceptional sound. It’s no wonder these don’t last long when you find them on the market. Excellent projection, clarity and low and responsive action up and down the fretboard! the serial number is #1124898 and looks to be a very early 2006.
These are really a very special 00028 edition by Martin. Built with premium woods and workmanship! Price is $3000 with buyer paying shipping and any fees. Don’t wait too long... I’m guessing this Martin will move fast. Price is firm and not looking for any trades. Send emails for more pics and any questions to [email protected]

A few words from the previous owner:

About This Listing
A Norman Blake Signature in very good condition. Has some finish checking and a couple dings on the back of the headstock. Comes with OHSC that's in good condition. Just polished the frets, oiled the fretboard, and threw a new set of martin 13 retros on it. The bridge pins are ebony.

Edit: This one did have the under-saddle pickup installed, but I removed it and put in a stew-mac end-pin adapter because I wanted to see how much more responsive the guitar would be without the pickup. Also, I don't play any acoustics amplified. And to my surprise it was a lot more responsive. I will include the pickup with the sale in case you'd like to re-install it.

The following is the description of the guitar from the C F Martin Guitar Company’s The Sounding Board:
"The Norman Blake Signature Models combine Martin 14-fret 000 body style and 24.9 scale length with a 12-fret (to the body) neck. This unique combination allows the top braces to be shifted forward to cross just below the soundhole and places the bridge lower on the top for greater soundboard vibration. A 00 size soundhole (1/8" smaller than 000) and 1/4" width scalloped braces enhance both bass response and dynamic range. The 000-28 Norman Blake Signature Models are handcrafted from premium solid tonewoods. The top and top braces are fashioned from Adirondack red spruce, highly prized for brilliant timbre. The neck is carved from genuine mahogany. The satin finished neck is a substantial 1 13/16 width at the nut. Carved with a pointed heel but without the traditional diamond volute, it has a special Norman Blake modified-V contour for player comfort. Custom tall, wide frets on the black African ebony fingerboard provide a similar feel to the bar frets that Norman Blake prefers. The unusual modified snowflake abalone fingerboard inlay pattern comes from a unique 00-42 produced by Martin for the Wurlitzer Company in 1922: a Maltese cross at the 3rd fret, two diamonds at the 5th fret, a square at the 7th fret, two diamonds at the 9th fret, a square with cats eyes at the 12th fret and a cats eye at the 15th fret. In keeping with Norman Blake's request for design purity, no inlaid signature appears on the fingerboard. Presented in a Geib style vintage case, each 000-28 Norman Blake Signature Model guitar bears an internal label personally signed by Norman Blake and Martin Chairman and CEO C.F. Martin IV. In addition, the labels are numbered in sequence."

A few specs:
Overall length is 38 1/4 in. (97.2 cm.), 15 3/16 in. (38.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 in. (10.2 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 13/16 in. (46 mm.)

I've had both of Martin's NB models. They are absolutely awesome!
