Where to Buy Wood for Guitars in Europe or the UK?
I have a new friend who is doing an apprenticeship with Ervin Somogyi, and he will be returning to his home in Ireland with a month to three months. He was wondering if I knew people who could refer him to places that sell guitar woods cut into sets for acoustic guitar or wood sellers who sell wood for resaw, so I'm writing you to see if anyone has recommendations for me to pass onto him?
He is looking for sources of either Pernambuco, African Blackwood, Koa or Brazilian Rosewood that's legal to own in Europe for acoustic guitar sizes OOO or bigger? Thanks in advance for any sources you can please refer! Best! |

I'm not a luthier but I've made a nuisance of myself with quite a few.
The only one that comes to mind is David Dyke http://www.luthierssupplies.co.uk/ But if you google luthier + tonewoods + UK You'll see a few others.

Madinter and Maderas Barber - both in Spain with a good selection. I've made a few purchases from both and the service and quality have been good. Not sure how it works with import taxes since Brexit though.
https://www.madinter.com/en/ https://maderasbarber.com Also try: https://www.lagrimatonewood.com/shop/ https://www.exotichardwoods.co.uk/Tonewoods/ https://www.guitartonewoods4luthiers.co.uk I haven't used the 3 above so can't vouch for them. |
