I really have no words, but..Stunning! One of the most beautiful pieces of craftsmanship I have eve seen. Different, yet tasteful, and it all blends together perfectly!! And most importantly, it sounds phenomenal, Joe. Congrats!!!

PS: The first few bars are a dead-ringer for Floyd's "Goodbye Blue Sky".
Hey Steve,

I actually intended to copy the intro from Sting's recording -- from memory...

After I read your comment, I listened to the original and thought "not even close...". And then I listened to Goodbye Blue Sky, and you are right indeed! LOL

I swear I didn't even know that tune... I often cite Dave Gilmour as an influence but the only Floyd album I ever listened to extensively was Animals.

Otherwise, I learned Wish You Were Here like everybody else and I know the solo to Comfortably Numb note for note. That's about it for PF.

As for posting videos, I'll think about it. I wouldn't want people to figure out that I only play 3-4 chords (open chords for the most part)...

Thanks Chad!

I really lucked out on this one. Ray used the finest pieces of his stash for this beauty. The more I look at custom builds, the more I appreciate the materials that Ray selected (I was minimally involved).

I like this line! (And my reply to this is "Me too!")

You sure do a lot of nice things with those 3 or 4 chords though!

Awesome. Thanks for posting a video. It provided a worthy break from work.

Joe - you are The Man!

The guitar still sounds stellar, even through a cam mic (I assume so because the Apogee is horizontal in your vid).

Really very, very impressive - playing AND guitar.

V. jealous!

Cheers,
Steve

Thanks guys!

I much prefer SoundCloud but judging by the number of views I think people still prefer YouTube videos -- even despite the low sound quality...

Steve, I actually used the Apogée on this as well but it's recorded directly by the photo/camera software. Not great.

Well, I'm relieved by that - explains why it still sounds great (apart from the fact that it's clearly a great guitar/player combo).

Very interested that the mic is horizontal in your video - is that your preferred orientation? What's the rationale for that - I've been using mine vertical? I'll give horizontal a try this weekend.

cheers,
Steve

I honestly have no idea what I'm doing with the microphone.

I see most people position their mic vertically.

I'll candidly admit that mine is horizontal since I didn't know better...
