Default The Original Rising Sun Blues

This is a Clarence Ashley version that Doc Watson also recorded. I am using a J.W. Green fiddle and a Martin D-18

I feel like I'm sitting on a porch somewhere in the Smoky Mtns while friends and neighbors have gathered for some home-grown music and cooking. I just love bluegrass anything!! Thanks, Charlie!

X2!!!! Been gathered around many times!! Loved it, Charlie! Thanx for sharing.

On a side note, I google "House of the Rising Sun" and got this link from Wikipedia (yeah, I know, take it with a grain of salt!).

Like many great, great songs, it's really hard to find out who, actually, first put down the tune!!

wishin' it was ME!!!!!

Really enjoyed it, my wife loved it. Got to say, I really liked the violin sound and liked the strong melody of it. I love a "simple" tune and really love when a violin/fiddle is played without too much stuff to distract a listener. The pace was also very nice - it lets you get a good listen in and enjoy the sounds.

Thanks all.

Bob

You and Deb have a great sound. I listened to to some of your MP3's.

Mud,

I know what you mean about who did it first. I thought this one was the original based on something I read once.

Shawlie,

I love simple stuff as I get confused otherwise

Chuck,

Now that is real music! That touched me to the core.

Thank you for taking us back, closer to the origins of what became a very well known tune, after Dave Van Ronk changed up the chords a bit.

I liked that a lot.

Frank

That was a real nice thing to say Frank. Thank you for the explain about Dave Van Ronk's history. I did not know.
