Default Slight noise with rare earth blend

Recently I am experimenting with using pickups to record, and using tone match to eq them afterwards.
I found the rare earth blend to be a suitable pickup for doing this, with one exception in relation to recording. There is faint but audible noise in the background when I record - especially when I am touching the 2 screws on the pickup.

My question is - is this the nature of this pickup ? Will switching to a mag mic help? My
Mag mic just died so I am not able to try this.

I just started playing with a REB and I get no such noise. I wonder... have you made sure that your signal chain is grounded? I’ve had that issue when plugged in to devices that only have 2 prong (US) plugs. I’d suggest playing with your signal chain power sources to make sure you’re fully grounded and see if the problem persists.

All the mic blend pickups that I have tried (REB, AG6, Anthem, DD Multiac) have self noise. I can hear it quite well over reference monitors or noise reducing headphones. I can barely hear it through a guitar amp, PA, or consumer headphones.

I have an REB, running through a DEAD-quiet GigPro PA and into a LB Mini.

I have no noise.

Running wireless direct into the mini I also have no noise.

If you have a ground loop problem try running wirelessly.

I actually am using wireless - moving around my room I hear varying degrees of the interference I’m talking about. My anthem equipped guitar is dead quiet on the other hand.

Perhaps its the wireless, not the pickup.

I’m using anthem with the wireless as well, I think it’s the magnetic pickup.

I use a Shadow SH141 which is an active single coil soundhole pickup. I sometimes find it picks up interference from wireless electronics such as wireless mics or computers. Turning the guitar away from the source of the interference usually sorts it.

What wireless are you using? Does it have a TRS plug on the transmitter? Sometimes using a TRS to TS adapter fixes that. The Line6 G10 transmitter even comes with one because this is so common.

I've noticed my mag pickups, my Powertap Earth included, pickup certain electrical noise if facing certain devices. I have to turn away from my mixer when recording or there's a faint electrical hum.

Do you mean the l-shaped converter that comes with the line6? I have tried that, still the same.

Yup I believe we are experiencing the same thing - guess it’s the nature of the beast? Turning the mix of the Reb all the way towards the mic causes this noise to go away.

Can you try a different room? Magnetic pickups CAN pick up noises from all sorts of electrical things. Even the wiring in a room and some light sources.

I think it is my monitor speaker / amp ... when i switch it off and record, the interference sound is minimal.
