I didn't get in on this deal because I bought one of these (at nearly full price) nearly a year ago. I also have the full sized Zoom H4N and I think the Tascam rivals the full sized model. I can actually make better music with one of these recorders than I can with my audio interface and external mics. Oh well...

I have to say I am very pleased with this little recorder!

I had this same thought. I know I've said it a hundred times in this thread, but I just can't believe the sound quality you get out of this thing for its price. Tascam really nailed this one. If, for whatever reason, something happens to my DR-05 I'll replace it with the exact model or upgrade to the next one up. Sticking with Tascam as a brand for sure.

I'll have it by Thursday and will report back.

I also stumbled across one for $9.95 plus shipping from a company out of the UK. Didn't love it thought because it was just a sleeve. It didn't close at the top. Plus the bundle is a bargain; the case and windscreen alone are worth it. Apparently windscreens are $20-30. Who knew?

Yeah I saw that case kit on Amazon too and ordered it. Thanks!

Very nice, Tsumiki. Nice melancholy feeling and good sound.

I received the Tascam accessory kit today. The case is a soft neoprene and is designed to hold the wider DR-45 model. It also comes with a fuzzy windscreen (fits nicely in the case w/ the extra room), a mic stand adapter (screws in bottom of recorder), and an AC power adapter and cable.

Hey Barry, sorry to hear it's not working. Check page 101 of the owner's manual and read what is says about the listed system errors, including system 50 error. Good luck!

I looked it up in the manual too on page 101. Hopefully power on/off will reset it. If not, it says to remove batters and/or USB cable, etc but if it keeps happening, then it says to call TEAC customer support.

By the way, I Googled "Tascam Dr-05 system error 50" and a lot of entries came up. You might look and see if there are other solutions folks have found.

Thanks I tried everything with no luck I will just take it back to GC. I have Roland VS-1880 and a Micro BR and a very old Tascam 244.

Barry, I'm sure GC will replace it with no problem since you just got it.

I think it's done. I was just in the local GC and the price was back to $99.99.

Regarding a case, I bought a case today that was intended for a digital camera. It fits the recorder great, plus there is a small pocket on the front for the cord and extra batteries.

p.s. That's interesting, I don't even see that model of the Tascam DR-05 listed on the GC website anymore. There are a couple custom versions, one in gold, one in silver.
