Default Carbon Fiber Guitar Gathering(s)....

The "Emerald Road Trip" thread got me thinking about the possibility of other groups forming throughout the US. (Not trying to shut anybody out but I just happen to live in the US.) My preliminary thinking is that, and again just thinking of my own situation, I could host a meeting in the local library meeting room and get the word out for folks to bring their CF guitars as well as those who are interested in playing a CF guitar. I'd said in a previous thread that I've never seen a CF guitar in a store so it might be helpful to those who already own them, those who are thinking of owning them and those who have one (or more) for sale. What do you think???

Good idea. I organized the FEB 2018 Carbon Fest I in Phoenix, and Kramster graciously hosted (he is better stocked than any store). Some searching could find that thread. Getting the word out here in the CF room with particulars might attract a pretty good group. I am of the opinion that if more folks tried composite guitars, they would like them. So many dismiss the basic idea of CF just based on third-hand comments read on a forum.

What would be some good ways to get the word out besides AGF? Hmmm. I wonder if Rainsong, Emerald et al would let me/us borrow their customer list for the given state. Can I call mine Virginia Carbon Guitar Fest???

A great idea! I will bring X7, OF660 and a bottle or two if it is held in SF bay area. I meant wine or soda... . Hope someone shows up with nylons.

RP, you may want to check out the threads below (posted in the Custom Shop subforum) where AGFer TomB’sox organized a very successful “B.I.G.” (B’sox International Guitarapalooza) gathering at his home in Texas. Some prominent wood guitar builders attended. He’s now preparing for a repeat in 2020. Hope this helps.

B.I.G. 2019 (Part 1)
B.I.G. 2019 (Part 2)
B.I.G. 2020

Good luck! Hope it works out.

Was thinking the same thing RP. Is there an area here on AGF where players try to get together with others in their area?

I'm just brainstorming ways to reach folks with an interest (or potential interest) in carbon fiber guitars. I've learned that it never hurts to ask...

Default Gathering

An early Feb gathering in Phoenix or vicinity could work for me. Something new to me. I can bring a Rainsong Shorty SG and JM3000 jumbo 12 string.

Yes. There are two options provided to members just for this. A thread can be posted in the “Events and New Releases” subforum or, the top thread in that subforum is a sticky titled “PSA: The AGF has a calendar!” which links to the “Calendar” which is also accessible as a heading in the navigation bar near the top of the main forum page and each subfora page, sandwiched in-between "Community" and “New Posts".

One of our strongest carbon fiber guitar proponents is in Arizona and seems to keep his door open for kindred spirits. I live in Virginia and would want to develop a gathering closer to home as a practical matter...

Just to clarify, it’s fine to post about CF gatherings in this subforum, as well as use the Events subforum and calendar, as desired.
