Thanks Tony. Having owned seven Taylors when I made the decision, it was definitely a transition as I sold guitars one at a time and began to acquire/re-acquire Rainsongs and then Emeralds. I love Taylor guitars, let's get that right, especially Grand Auditoriums; but once I made the decision over the summer, they went into their cases and didn't come out until I packed them for shipment. I was more or less attached to different ones, but for me once I made the decision there was no turning back.

One thing that made the transition much easier was finding my 12-fret Rainsong H-DR1100NST. As Jon Fields will tell you, 12-fret Rainsong dreads are terrific guitars, and this one is no exception. Tone, playability, looks - it has it all, and could easily be my only guitar if variety weren't the spice of life as well as guitar ownership. Then the unexpected release of Rainsong's Vintage dreads came along. Like most of you, I considered this model pretty pricey but I justified/rationalized my purchase of the first one shipped from Rainsong to LA Guitar Sales by my previous sale of the Taylors.

I live in a small cabin in the woods and heat with a combination of wood and a mini-split heat pump. Clearly this necessitated keeping my previous wooden guitars in their cases and bringing them out sparingly during the winter. My preference is keeping my acoustics out on their stands for ready access, and going wood-free has enabled me to do that...

Since starting this thread last October I fell off the wagon and purchased several wooden guitars. However, I'm back to all carbon fiber guitars - 2 Rainsong dreads, an Emerald X20 and an Emerald X30 in production. It really feels great to be back...

Now that I have my fill of carbon fiber guitars:

3 pre-Peavey Cargos
2 McPherson Touring - both honeycomb top and gold package
2 McPherson Sable - both honeycomb top and gold package

The "gold package" consists of gold EVO frets and gold Schaller tuners (the same as they use on their more expensive wood instruments)

...I am planning to let go of all my wood guitars, but will take my time so I don't get rushed into giving them away.

Tony

I have my last 2 woods for sale. Then I will order up a synergy x20 and just have that and my x30 (and I have my LP goldtop and Gretsch hollowbody for when I really want to make a ruckus)

You're like a Yo-Yo! Pick a material and stick with it!!

Seriously though, glad to hear you're back on the all-CF bandwagon. I'm still all wood at this point. And I'm eerily content with the few that I own. They just cover my needs so well. But those new satin woody's are a thing of beauty. If Emerald ever goes the route of some sort of proprietary pickup system (and they should) or if they contract with Maton, Takamine or Cole Clark to install those systems I'll be in trouble!

I keep searching and I can't seem to find what I'm wanting

Found what I've been looking for

Found what I've been looking for
Should I wait, should I stay to see it
Arm fold 'cause I'm told, I need it
I'm not frightened to take off, step away
But my ships have sailed and I'm here to tell that
I don't mean like the others

Scared the magic might fade away

Yes. Rainsong dreads and larger Emeralds seem to suit my tastes best...

I enjoy having a carbon guitar and wooden guitars as both sound and feel good but somewhat different.
