Data...as in your songs, your owner info, etc. Worse if you're using a phone or other device as I was talking more generally but yes, even on your trusty old iPad actually has data on it!

Anti-technology? Hardly. I've been coding for computers since I was a youngster in the mid 1970s. I think almost 50 years with tech and computers has taught me a lot about what can and does go wrong though. Also, the tech today is more stalker for the big corporations than it ever was and it's only getting worse. Do I hate tech? Hellz no. Do I hate SPY tech...you betcha! Do I rely on tech to do everything while thinking it's the savior? Ummmm no to that as well. So keep your head well in the sand my friend, sucked in by the hype and criticizing the alternative viewpoint, that'll definitely help.
That seemed a little harsh between you two and maybe one of those conversations best done with the two of you in same room with a coffee, tea or beer.

I'm not really sure what you mean by spy tech, but the coding and technology from era you mention is almost always a spy's or thief's dream.

If you follow the easy basics with an iPad you don't just get a product with reliability I wish we had all over. You get a very easy and secure schema for backup.

I love my acoustic playing with no technology beyond the guitar and a chair but that's just for minutes at a time. My age is a constant reminder of how much I love technology. I'd be dead without dentistry and eyeglasses. I bike commute when I can but today am really glad I have one of those station wagon thingies they invented. Making lunch was SO much easier with the gas stove.

My first question is simple enough: are these the same app with one being an update of the other or are the two totally unrelatred? Second question is more complex: how do I go about saving a song to my iPad? I'm able to search for and find songs with tabs and lyrics so they show on my screen, but so far I've been unable to save what I see on my screen unless I enter a URL for that song. What am I missing? I've gone to YouTube and watched several demos and tutorials. Maybe I'm not looking at one that is suitable for the technology challenged because I reach information overload rather quickly, but I'm not having much success using either app. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who has worked his/her way through this maze. Thanks. Larry
I am using Songbook Chordpro on an iPad 2.

The app uses a format called 'Chordpro' - the explanation is here:
https://linkesoft.com/songbook/chordproformat.html
This site shows you all the typed commands for the format and what they do.
You can work in Word, save as a .txt file and go from there. Link your iPad to a Dropbox account through the app and drop in .txt files from your computer which can convert to Chordpro. Easy, and all your tunes are backed up in your Dropbox. Also they can be shared with other musicians in this way.

Here's a visual guide I cooked up:

Let me know if this is helpful or if there is something else I can add to make it clearer.
