Default String advice

just got a Godin Spectrum and it came strung with D'Addario EJ21 Jazz Light XL Nickel Wound Electric Guitar Strings . The guitar is pretty unique having a lipstick pickup for an electric sound and also having a piezo pickup for each string with a nice preamp for adjustments and synth access.
Was wondering if I could use Thomastik infeld K116 strings to get a little classical/nylon sound. Just dont know how the lipstick will work with those even though they have a steel core..any thoughts?
I have a set to try and found out the strings are not long enough. The outer winding will not reach the tuner. The inner core is plenty long enough. Will they still work? Thanks, Don
