Might not feel too ergonomic afterall...hmmmm

These subtle, modern touches Marc is doing for this build and the ones he is bringing to La Connor have me floored! Beautiful but simple Snakewood backstrip with maple purfling.

And a bevel-assembly process photo. The bevel veneer will be Snakewood as well to match the body bindings.
Snakewood is one of my favorite binding materials. I have two BRW guitars with Snakewood binding, one of them (Sexauer) actually has a Snakewood fretboard as well! I also have a Ziricote with Snakewood binding and armrest. The luthier was afraid it might be too busy, but works great. I think it works with all the darker woods like your ABW also!!!

This is going to be a fantastic guitar!

Okay all, it's been a really sad day for this working musician and guitar lover......between B.I.G and Artisan both cancelling this afternoon then La Connor rescheduling till July and a number of local gigs wanting refunds and blahblahblah I think it's time to put on some Andrew York tunes, drink some tea and update this thread with some of the photo candy Marc has been texting me.

*Coping mechanisms engage in 3...2...1*

Snakewood Head veneer with maple purfling

Closeup of the requested "modern rosette" made of Wenge, maple and ebony, snakewood bindings with Chakta body purfling

starting to feel better....

Snakewood laskin bevel before install

Andddd a family photo of the siblings, two of which will be available at La Connor. Check out the cool look of the Wenge head veneer...almost looks like silk or denim.

Feeling better already.
Peace and love, AGF fam.

Smile I feel your disappointment....

So sorry to hear of your cancellations! And I feel your loss.

I had 18-20 of my Senior and Healthcare gigs a month booked for the year...

Yesterday I cancelled them all. Today they would have canceled me anyway!

Perhaps I am now retired???

Everyone stay safe and be well!

Your Benny is going to be a BEAUTY. I love the snake wood bits!!!

Hang tough

Paul

I am surely going to miss seeing you this year. I think all of us are still in shock with the recent cancellations.

Your Benny is looking stellar. Man, that Snakewood peg head looks incredible! Glad you have this diversion to ease the pain.

I can see why--this looks beautiful, Dustin!

Hope to get to hear you play it live someday down the road!

Smile Beneteau

Looking awesome Dustin! I can't wait to see the finished guitar. Your build is making me jones for another custom build with Marc.

I like how Marc writes all the specs on the front of the neck so he won't forget. I like a little bit of a deeper neck carve too, and had Ray do the same thing on my new 00.

The fingerboard looks beautiful with that fan fret and scrolled shape on the bottom. The rosette and front headstock veneer are killer too, of course.

Im finding I like a little extra magic on the neck now too, to avoid hand cramps.

It's wonderful. I have had a few additions so it's having to share my limited playing time. I do probably need to slim down by three guitars or so. I'd like to keep the Beneteau but if I get to the point where I absolutely must part with it for marital harmony, I will let you know.

There is a gorgeous used 13-fret Beneteau on Reverb with amazingly figured sappele, but it has a 1.75 nut width and 2.25 string spacing and that generally doesn't work for me. Though, the Devil on my shoulder keeps saying, "Yeah, but with Marc's slim D-profile neck and a little more time playing, you can probably get used to it. And, even if not, look at it. It's so purdy...come on man, what's one more guitar?...". LOL.

Those chakta purflings are beautiful, they really add a classy look to the guitar.
