Superb performance of the greatest guitar concerto.
Lovely performance with an excellent balance between soloist and orchestra.
Without doubt the greatest guitar concerto - there aren’t that many - and one of my favourite pieces of music in the repertoire. Rodrigo didn’t play guitar himself but Understands the instruments idiosyncrasies so well. Thanks for posting. My favourite recording of this piece is with Pepe Romero, The Academy of St Martin in the Fields, conducted by Sir Neville Marriner. Wonderful orchestral playing where Pepe Romero brings a precision and fluidity to the guitar part I’ve not heard anywhere else. If you haven’t heard this recording, give it a try. |

Yes, agree on the Pepe Romero/ASMF recording being very, very good; another
I like a lot is John Williams's first w/ Ormandy, though the sound is a little lacking on that latter one. Gallen's rhythmic control and musicality really seem good to me, along with his crossed-legs no-big-deal vibe. Hats off to him. |

Ricardo Gallen talks here and demonstrates a little on his guitars and strings:

Possibly and probably the greatest piece of music i have ever heard in my life, and that's a lot of music.
I absolutely adore this piece, and do aspire to learn to play it. |

Nicola Hall plays the Adagio movement of the Aranjuez:

Beautiful.
Here's a completely different take . Not guitar, I hope nobody minds. This is the first time I remember hearing Rodrigo, from the movie 'Brassed Off'. |
