It's a Halcyon. $50 upcharge for the adi bracing, and $50 for the binding. Plain maple would be cheap( maybe not cost anything). I wanted something that would contrast the walnut. I'm a sucker for curly maple.

Hi Folks,

Thanks for all the kind words!

Yes, they have binding. Our usual deal is to use offcuts from the sides for a perfect (and free) match. If contrasting bindings are desired, we can do that, though there may be an upcharge depending on desired material. In this case, I have plenty of yawn maple, but the curly stuff needs to come from either a second set or a new stick, so it incurs an upcharge.

The fingerboards are also treated this way, with the bindings cut off then re glued in place. If there's one thing I can't abide, it's fret slots visible from the side... (Shudder)...

And yes, it's the second 12 string, left hand in this case. At my last job, for some reason they were always the ones to get strung up last...

And yes, we're getting on six months wait time, and growing...

There's the man! Side note, I feel like a total doofus constantly referring to "creamy centers" of the B and S, when there's a perfectly good descriptor: sapwood. Love me some sapwood

Ed's got a great reputation here. I read all the Halcyon threads when they come up and I'm always intrigued. I'm on the opposite coast as Ed but hopefully one day I'll come across one of his guitars and have an opportunity to play one and perhaps even buy.

I'm on the same coast. Where are you located? Roanoke, VA here. Whoops just noticed you were in Canada.

Not cheap, but for what the product is, very reasonable.

Make that very reasonable. However, Ed is a smart guy :-) He's had gradual price increases last 2 years on Jan 1, so maybe a hint there about next year. They are probably getting outside of recession friendly, but value is there is spades and probably hard to match for a custom build, even if you choose the base standard materials, you've got a lot of decisions in the final instrument, plus you can sort of participate along the way.

The value is great - I own a Halcyon Parlor and a Halcyon Nick Lucas. They're both refreshingly light builds, which is difficult to come across these days without taking out a second mortgage...

I dropped the tongue in cheek RF moniker when we crossed the 999 threshold...

Here is the build thread on my 000 12 Fret slightly shortened scale Halcyon in Primavera, Lutz and Zebra wood: http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...d.php?t=324410

and my Tinker thread: http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...d.php?t=348738

And Pics of my 000 for those who don't like links:

I rave about these products else where so I wont go on here but to say: Absolutely the best bang for your buck in a custom built guitar out there !! Gives you the tone of a 3-5K guitar starting at $1299.00 CAN ! You won't be disappointed even with all the hype.

John

John, that is just stunning. I can't believe the value that these guitars represent. Thanks for the pic. Very, very nice!
