Default Were you at Woodstock?

I've been watching some documentaries on it and was wondering if any of you have some experiences to share. I myself was 14 in 1969 so I was just a tad too young to make the journey.

My college roommate was there, and then he wasn’t. I believe that they got to within a mile or two of the stage when they had to gIve up the quest. From what I gathered, it wasn’t the best weekend he had ever had, but it gave him bragging rights.

No.

Looks like it was a wet, sweaty, muddy, stinky mess.

Kind of sorry I missed it...

Being of age (19) at the time but living in Oregon,, it just seem to far to try to get to, and there were just too many closer Festivals to attend

Like the first Bull Frog Lake (Oregon) , the first Sky River (Washington), and the only State sponsored Rock Festival in history, Vortex 1 (Oregon) All of which had dry weather

It looked kinda miserable, but not as miserable-looking as Woodstock 99!

I was just 17 so no. And while there were thousands of people there I believe the number who claim to have been there is now in excess of 5 million

Funny. I didn't know a thing about it until after the fact. The most amazing part about it to me is the amount of people I have ran into who say they were there.

I was 14, still into top 40 radio, and only remember hearing about the traffic jam on NY radio.

My buddy was there. Said he was one of the few who brought a tent and so was rather popular with the ladies

There was member of adjunct faculty around ten years ago at the college where I work who was there. I remember him saying that at a certain point he came back into his right mind and found himself completely naked and wondering where on earth he had left his clothes!

I also didn't hear a word about it leading up to it. But I lived in Iowa at the time and if I had heard about it I wouldn't have known what an impact it was going to have so I wouldn't have made the trip anyway.

I have been to Burning Man though.

Nope.

The hospital I later worked at a couple of years later took some of the folks medivac'ed out for the Festival though and a doctor on the staff there was sorta famous for a while as the "Woodstock Doctor"

Several hundred thousand were there, but tens of millions claim to have been there.

I can't remember, so that probably means I was.

Not really, I was only 2 1/2 years old and over 3000 miles away over the pond.

I watched a documentary about Woodstock 99 last night. Looked to be a hell hole rather than a festival.

One guy described his orgy of destruction and vandalism as something out of Lord of the Flies.
