I heard Ted uses those shavings to make a mean spruce salad. Looks awesome, as always!

No, the wood shavings are responsible for the "overtones"...

I own some really nice Japanese paring chisels and it takes all my self control not to bevel every piece of wooden furniture I own.very therapeutic.
know the feeling Scottie, the humor is NOT showing his bracing - almost.

Ted is finishing the binding this week and will send over photos when he is done....in the meantime he sent over some images of the work done on the end graft.
Cutting miters on the inlaid endgraft

Fitting and gluing the cut out purfling. Ted states that a perfect miter should look like it's one piece thats inlaid and show no witness lines of glue or gaps. In order to get clean results for this process Ted use 3 different types of glue with different viscosity's and properties...I have no idea why this is or how it achieves the results it does

The finished result.

Until next time!

Knew I should have stuck in at joinery class...och well!

All the best and look forward to more threads from you

Haha, Thanks Scott!
I don't actually drink coffee so I'm not sure I could take you up on that
If I had a big enough shop I'd have apprentices by next year but it'll have to wait... My shop is a one-man shop at the moment, not really any room for a second body until I upgrade!
Thank you once again for the compliments - I'll likely be posting a thread soon for the two guitars I'll be making for the Vancouver International Guitar Festival in June. So that should be fun!
Cheers!

Are you sure that is to keep the bindings from moving or is the guitar headed for a sarcophagus to be preserved for eternity with an Egyptian king?

ps. did you ever see the PM I sent you?

Many thanks for all the great comments for Ted's work...getting closer
Just a couple of photos from Ted
The sound port is done and the routing for the neck attachment is complete...Ted is going to leave the body now and concentrate on the neck...once done he will begin to prep the body ready for the start of the pore filling process

Take it easy everyone
Scott
