Thanks Tom, I'm really pleased with all the nice touches myself!

Each Tyler Robbins guitar comes standard with a custom fit Calton Case AND Caseadillo Case cover (a Sam Guidry creation). Since this guitar sports some colorful touches, I chose a black Calton case with light splatter finish and a red interior - shown getting a test fitting with the R.1ca.

Thanks for following along. Stay safe and be well!

The photos of the back with the grains running seemingly into the purfling and of the grain of the side lining up with the grain of the mahogany neck are simply outstanding - I havent seen the latter before in the work of any luthier and the effect is simply mesmeric.

Thanks gitarro, coming from you that's quite a complement for Robbin's work.

Thanks for weighing in Ernesto, btw I love your Lame Horse Saddle Pal, it pushes some boundries as well.

Well, this guitar has now been finish sanded and inspected. The mahogany neck will be stained prior to finishing to closely match the MRW back and back of headstock overlay. Here are a few close up pictures from Tyler prior to the guitar getting into the finishing stages.

We're just about caught up now to where this build stands in real time. Tyler has sprayed a first round of sealer and completed grain fill. Today he is starting work on applying build coats. I'm looking forward to seeing how the guitar looks after the finish coats are applied and buffed out.

Thanks for looking in, be safe and well!

Wow, Doug--I just went back through this thread looking at all the photos again (working from home is dangerous indeed...)! What a delight of details and craftsmanship. Just noticed the acrylic colors in the top purfling which aren't in-your-face glaring at you, but so subtle. Just amazing.

Can't wait to see this one after finish, and in your hands, and hopefully in my hands at some point! Really hope that I can see this one in person--it's just a stunning guitar...

And now the waiting.....

Hi Tom, thanks for asking as I was wondering the same thing and checked in with him last night.

Tyler was helping his boss, Bryan Galloup with a project last week so the he did the first build coats on this guitar only yesterday with some additional coats planned for this week. I did get a look at the mahogany neck after it was stained to match the MRW and it came out great.

Update: a few quick phone shots that I received from Tyler this afternoon.

Thanks for following along.

I think this guitar ticks almost all of the boxes that I love about Tyler's work. The execution of the very fine details he puts into his guitars, such as black veneer grid is absolutely flawless. I also haven't seen too many instruments where every miter is perfect and there are a lot of them on this guitar.

Would it be wrong of me to contact Tyler and ask him to build me the Doodahdoug signature model with exactly everything the same? This guitar is amazing Doug, I kinda hate you a little bit right now.

Too funny Tom! Actually, It is my understanding that Tyler is no longer accepting new commissions in order to clear his wait list and then he plans to build spec guitars for a while after that...but it doesn't hurt to try and persuade him.

All the finish coats are on this guitar as of last Friday and it will be curing for another week or two. The waiting is the hardest part
