Default Tele revisited

With 4 people WFH because of the Covid lockdown in the UK, I canít really play the acoustics when people are working, so I got the tele out of the case today to play for the first time in a while.
After just 15 mins it reminded me what wonderful guitars teles are. Amazing fast neck, sit tight to the body and so unforgiving

I think I'm one of the only avid electric players in this Sub Forum that doesn't have a Tele!

That's a sweet looking Tele, Londonlefty. You too, Otter!

Those are nice guitars!

I've never understood the "unforgiving" thing. Try a Les Paul: just as unforgiving. Six strings, two pickups, one three-way selector.
Lest you question my experience:

Horses for courses. I use both in the studio.

I payed my Tele for an hour at the Sunday Gig, then switched to the PRS McCarty with Soap Bars. More beef with the PRS.

Gee, I was playing one of my Teles into that same Vox model amp yesterday afternoon.

I spend much of this century being constrained from playing acoustic at home because of family, and now I'm back to having everyone at home more again, so yes, electric guitar and bass--and even my little plastic keyboard--are getting the playing time.

Default MIM vs. USA

Hi friends, I have always loved Teles. I realized this even more after I let my nephew talk me out of my ASAT. As I have become more and more an electric player lately I had no choice but to go out and get another one and landed what is in my opinion a fantastic Mexican tele a few months ago (pictures coming if I ever figure out how to post them). I hear that the basic MIM Fender is much better than the basic American made Fender these days. In fact, I hear you have to spend around $1,600 plus or jump into the heady custom shop stuff to get anything better than a good MIM from Fender at least.

I have never owned a custom shop or American made telecaster. Can anyone elaborate?

I have a similar but different story.

I love my Telecaster and I've been playing it a lot lately (plugging into my Fender Mustang amp with headphones so not to disturb the family) but I took my Stratocaster out of its case and I was reminded just how much I love this guitar also. (Particularly the position between the neck and middle pickups on one of the amp's Fender channels with a touch of reverb).

Great pictures of beautiful Telecasters by the way and intend to put pictures up of my guitars if I can work out how.

Mine's getting more use - with the current situation I'm at home with my daughter and she's getting me to accompany her a lot. She likes jazz, this works well!

P.S. I'm thinking about putting a bigsby on it.
