Default Rockabilly for $500 or so used

Looking for a hollow body for rockabilly that I might pick up for around $500 used. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

MIK post-2013 Gretsch G5420's (with the blacktop Filter'trons) can be had in the $500-700 range depending on condition/color - about as rockabilly as it gets...

Hi Roger!

Yes, the Gretsch 5420T is the first thing that jumped into my mind, too! This Gretsch 5420T looks like it's in great condition, though I cannot tell what year it was built. It may be older than 2013. I'm sure they could provide you information at the Sam Ash store.

One of the first 5400-Series E-Matics from early '13 (large headstock w/Electromatic logo, hump-block inlays, blacktop FT pickups), quality is all there but a bit less in-demand than the later iteration with Neo-Classic ("thumbnail") inlays and small bound headstock - definitely in good shape, I'd offer them $600 and see if they bite...
