At the top of that price range there should be used Eastmans. When I went through this same search about 4 years ago, I found the eastmans to be much nicer than anything else in the range. It really didn't take me long to find a few on the local used market and found a beautiful 810ce. Has a pickup, but some of the Eastman arch tops don't.

I have a Loar LH-700 and can’t say anything but good things about it. I’ve had it used for 500€, which is an uncommonly good price, and I’ve played with it in many settings, always with great satisfaction.
The neck is … not for everyone. True to the original L-5, it’s a huge V 3-piece neck. A thing of beauty as far as I’m concerned… I’ve also put a DeArmond on it, and am very happy with both the acoustic and the electric sound. |
