An Academy series with a mahogany top.

or

They have already built a few prototype Mahogany top 120's, so who knows.

There is no way to special order a custom 100, 200 or Academy series.

Taylor did build a 110 prototype with mahogany top in Aug 2016. When done with their evaluation they sent it to Island Music in Maryland.
I saw it on their website and bought it March 2017.
As you can imagine it has a softer, more mellow sound.

Default What I really want from Taylor...

  • A matched "his-&-hers" set of all-hog pre-NT style 17" jumbos (525e/565e) for personal use;
  • GS-Mini tenor and quart (A-A tuning) guitars;
  • Ukes in 500/600/700-Series trim;
  • A 216/218e, possibly a corresponding 256/258e 12-string;
  • A 620/660 (plain) walnut/spruce lineup;
  • An 820/860 figured walnut/spruce lineup, along with a regular-production/non-BTO 830/870 all-walnut series;
  • A revival of the Solidbody Series with a better-engineered and/or more "standard" (Gibson/Fender-style) bridge assembly - great-playing guitars, but those heat-pressed powdered-aluminum bridges would crack if you even looked at them the wrong way (voice of experience here);
  • The T3 bass I saw hanging on the wall in an old Taylor skunkworks pic, that leaked to one of the guitar-geek magazines several years ago

More models without the ES system would be nice instead of having to custom order them.

Pine top, pin oak back and sides! Maybe a nice cedar neck. GA size. No cutaway. Simple black rosette like on the 3 series. All satin finish. Gold Taylor Tuners, and the ES... Yep. I bet you a zillion it would sound great.

The cedar top gs mini is a good suggestion. Would be happy to try one of those.

More off-the-rack models without cutaway or electronics....

A 1 or 2 series GS -- preferably a baritone or a 12-string.
