Clapton's Eclipse
In 2015 Eric Clapton had John Monteleone build an Eclipse archtop for him, and when John brought 2 of them (in the 'white', un-lacquered) to choose from, he chose to buy both. Whatta guy, huh?
Anyway.......Eric spec'd a large neck, much to MY pleasure, so it was really a treat to take one on its maiden voyage before shipping out to Eric. This is the third section of a trilogy I composed called Bitter Suite:Oso Landslide, and the section is entitled 'Never Saw It Coming'. It's in high dropped D, capo 3. 1st string tuned down a whole step. To my ears this is a great example of a brand-new archtop that has all the goods for fingerstyle stuff, despite being simply recorded with an iPhone 7 from a few feet away. Enjoy! Howard Emerson

Here's a shot of the pair, and a headstock closeup showing my suggestion to John that a simple pair of dots would personalize Eric's build.....

Elegant guitars, elegant playing, great tune. At first it almost sounds like a 12-string. Always amazed at your playing, Howard.
