Smile Beneteau

Congrats Dustin! The guitar sounds and looks phenomenal. I chose a 25.75" scale for my Beneteau as well and an Englemann top for the same reasons you selected Alpine spruce. Now if I could only play as well as you.

Hey John!

Thanks for the kind words man...later down the line I think I may try Engelmann as I'm really enjoying the overtones and sparkle the Alpine is putting out, I have heard a few Engelmann-topped Beneteau demos and they have wonderful-sounding overtones as well...I can't even imagine how good yours sounds with the Brazilian!

My model M has a Carpathian top which has a little bit of overtones but a bit more "direct" and fundamental sounding when played fingerstyle. The overtones have a "dark" sound from the ebony but it's super punchy and clear on the top end when you take a pick to it.

I've also considered doing a Fanfret down the line but really, this 25.75 scale feels like its pretty versatile on its own... and also wasn't an upcharge.

Anyways, hope you're well brother man!

GOOOAL!

Just lovely, man. It already sounds killer, and I look forward to hearing it develop and listening to what it inspires from you.

My only issue is you've set quite a high bar for Beneteau demo vids round these parts

There’s much less fuss involved, I just have to have a business card around to place by the bridge so the ball won’t snap onto the finish and make dents

Here is a video from today at my favorite studio in VA... zero EQ or effects, just a pure sound. Enjoy and play on!

Yours was the only other through bridge I've seen. Marc made a cardboard template to put behind the bridge on my baritone. It matches the shape of the bridge.

Smile Pinless Bridge

My two Baraniks and Beneteau have pinless bridges, which I prefer. Marc made me a string changing template as well (sits behind the bridge), but I use two layers of the blue 3M painters tape instead. I always clean my guitars during and after string changes and have never noticed any tape adhesive residue behind the bridge.

Thanks for the kind words man! My studio guy used a pair of Rode NT5s that apparently had upgraded, high-end capsules. Not sure what pre was used. Thanks for listening.

Oh wow, I didn’t think to ask him for one of those!

Dustin,

Check the storage compartment in your case first. I didn't ask Marc for the cardboard bridge template. It was just in the case when I received the guitar.

I love pinless bridges, and Marc's design is one of my favorites.

I also love the outline of the top on this model with the Ryan bevel. Somehow it makes the design look a bit more elegant or something.

How's the quality of the case, by the way? Is it just one of those standard TKL type cases?

The case is great!! Nice leather handle and ample cushion. Not a flight case but def on the luxurious side.
