I like them both equally, but I'm probably just that little bit more at home playing electric because that's what I learnt on for the first few years.
Having said that, there's something satisfying about playing my Martin dreadnought (strumming/flatpicking/fingerpicking) down by my local river which I can't do on any of my electrics. |

I go back and forth.. Sometimes I'm really on an acoustic kick - sometimes for weeks - maybe even months... Then I'll get back into an electric phase..
I will say that I play more electric than acoustic, though. |

Electric guitars are not more fun.
But I don't so much play the guitar. I play the amp with the guitar. And a hairy amp of your preference most definitely IS more fun.

I like playing both but I feel a more visceral connection with my acoustic guitars which I find more enjoyable. They feel like living entities to me.

I agree with this. Playing acoustic to me is much more quiet and meditative. It is fun however, to crank the volume with an electric. If I don’t do it for a while I get the “itch” and just need some loud time

I actually do think electric guitar is more fun because of all the amps and toys and such a huge palette of sound. But I still play 99% of the time acoustic and most of that classical. I like that better but agree that electric is more 'fun.'

Blasphemous here - do you think electric is more fun?
I don’t think there is any empirical way of defining what is intrinsically more fun than the other!
I love playing acoustic guitar and when I do a lot of it I miss playing electric, which I love too! I adore playing bass, fretted and fretless, and long to play bass when I haven’t done it for a while. Note I am talking gigs or jobs of some sort, I play everything at home at some point!

When I was a young man, I was definitely more of an electric guitar player and more accomplished on that. These days, I enjoy the acoustic a fair bit more than the electric. However, the electric is still very enjoyable and not to be overlooked.
Whichever one you do the most of, the other is definitely good for a change when you hit a rut.

Different kind o' fun. There's nothing like standing on a stage w/ a five piece band and emoting on electric. Lot's of colors available.

I like being able to play a complete piece of music on my guitar. Not just an instruments part of an ensemble. Granted I could do that like Joe Pass or Chet Atkins but who wants to fire up everything to do that? Plus I don't have to deal with band members.

They are both equally enjoyable. I see no need to "fret" over the issue.
