So when's the next update Hen? That Consort is gonna be a looker! You always seem to get the nicest woods on your builds.

Edwinson chiming in! I'm pretty eager to see this guitar finished also. This will be the first time I've had a guitar done with Polyester. Joe came very highly recommended by lots of people, and Hen has been very happy with his finish work.
At last report, Joe will probably be shipping the Consort back to me in a week or so, after about two months waiting in his production queue. Then, we're on the home stretch!

Joe told me that he's working double time to catch up. When the McFadden Co. went into bankruptcy last year, he was suddenly without a supplier for his favorite Poly finish. So he had to test out several other brands, and find a reliable supplier. Then McFadden's reorganized and got back into production. By that time, Joe had found another Poly finish that he liked better than the trusty old McF's. I didn't note the brand name, but Joe says it's got a slightly warmer hue--which IMO, is a GOOD thing.

I've been using McFadden's lacquer since 2002, because I love that warm, organic glow that it has, and the way it really brings out the inner beauty of the woods.

I expect that after I see Joe's work on this Consort, I'll be sending him a lot more finishing work on future builds.

I just got an email from Joe White tonight (Sunday) and he said he's shipping the guitar back to me tomorrow. Can't wait to see it! This is the first guitar I've subcontracted out for finish--I've always done my own, with Nitro lacquer. I'm expecting to be humbled by Joe's work.

Stay tuned...It's down to final assembly now. We'll have some new photos up soon of the guitar, all put together and strung up, awaiting Henderson's verdict. Expect good things! -edwinson
