Wow, yea, they are that now at Amazon, I'm going for one. Thanks that does look and sounds pretty good, good enough for me anyway.

Hey, can you edit out those 'start and stop' moments etc? splice, or do you do that in that Windows moviemaker?

I'm using one, but mine is having troubles with the battery/charging circuit overheating when I try to charge it. The last time I used it I thought the video and audio quality had deteriorated, so maybe mine is dying.

I went through a lot of hassle with a Kodak Zi8 as well, battling Kodak to get it replaced when their repair depot couldn't find the problem.

The latest generation of Flip is the Slide, which is more about the playback than the recording, it appears. Oh, four hour record time as well. Hmmmm.

The most fun I've had lately was with my Panasonic Lumix TS1 - waterproof, drop proof, dust proof, zoom, replaceable battery and memory, stills and 720p HD video. The new TS2 is even cooler, which means the TS1 has dropped to very near the price of the Flip HD, and less than the new Flip Slide.

But it comes with Flipshare editing software that loads on the PC.

And Avidemux works pretty well with the output from the Flip.

I just returned from Costco where they have the Flip Mino HD model on sale. I almost went for it until I was reminded that none of the Flip models can connect to an external mic which is a must-have for me. The Kodak Zi8 still looks to me like the one to get.

It's a common filter in the video editors I've used. It's also an effect available in some cameras, my Panasonic Lumix ZS3 calls it "sepia" in their color mode choices.

I haven't used anything from Flip, but I heard a lot about the Kodak Zi8 being a Flip killer. Soon I'll have a video up of myself, recorded with the Zi8 (with use of external mics).

Hi
I have used both a Flip & kodak Zi8.
I like the Kodak for the stereo input. There are many different ways to use it.
Here is the Flip mino HD.It only has a mono built in mic.

Here is the kodak Zi8 using its stereo imput..720/60.. the light in the room was low and it was the first time using it.
