Shure KSM 137s. I've tried LDCs but in the old house I'm in they seem to pick up a lot more ambient noise than the Shure SDCs.

Wow, Jon, just...wow! That sounds rich and sweet. Love the tune and could listen to music like this all day. The guitar and the guitarist sound fantastic and I thank you for sharing!

Is there a special handshake or secret password for the Hatcher Club?

Just a final comment on this thread (and thanks for following Mark's build). The guitar has proven to be right on the spot in every way. The tone has really settled in after about 30-35 hours of play and it has a sweet sound that really suits my style of play. The active back works well for my approach. I have Martin 11s on right now, mostly for the lighter touch and sweet tone. Probably will bop back and forth with Martin 12s before settling in on the right choice. And if you've never played a shorter scale 13 fret guitar, give it a shot--man are they easy to play. My left hand stretches aren't what they used to be and this helps a lot.
Also, I'm already dinging the French polished top up with thumb pick and nail marks....and to be honest I don't really mind. As Mark joked the other day, this guitar will look good beat up (but still I will be careful). May make sense to put on a clear mylar pickguard. What do you all think? I've done them on my ukes and they are rather non-intrusive. Or do I just accept that the thinly finished, French polished, cedar soundboard will get dinged up? Just posted a tune in the Show and Tell if you want to hear how the guitar has settled in a bit: http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...18#post3824918 Thanks again. And if you are in the market for a custom, give Mark a try. He is a superb artisan.
