Default Stripped tuner screw thread

Friends, today I was changing the strings on my H&D 000, which is fitted with Wavery tuners for this slot head. I noticed that the low E tuner was not flush with the headstock, so I took a tiny screw driver and carefully tightened it. It was then that I discovered that the thread hole must be compromised because the screw kept turning.
So, I assume that I would need a slightly larger screw to essentially cut new threads into the wood. Or is it more complicated than that. If I am on the right track, is Stewmac the place to go for that?
Thanks
David

A commonly recommended fix is to break-off a toothpick in the screw hole, with or without glue, and re-insert the screw.

My preference is to simply put a small dab of wood glue in the hole and then re-insert the screw. Once the glue has dried around the threads of the screw, the screw will be held in place.

Obliged, Charles.
