"Factory"-Strings on H&D DS Crossroads
Hi,
I was playing a brand new Huss & Dalton DS Crossroads at a local store. It played quite well. I forgot to check if it was stringed with Lights or Mediums. Could someone enlighten me on the gauge of strings it most likely had been shipped with by H&D? Thanks Peter

Pretty sure mine came with lights. Never felt it needed anything more, as I really liked everything about it, out of the box. Those are sweet little guitars!

They used to be lights 12-54 I’m not sure now. On my custom DS I prefer lights, the guitars are lightly braced and sound at their best with lighter strings. I find 12-54 Thomastik the perfect match but I don’t really strum.

Huss & Dalton use D'Addario Exp mediums on their full size guitars. Probably XTs now that EXPs are gone. You could always call them, but I'm pretty sure none of their dread sized guitars come from the factory with light strings.

Since I purchased my Huss & Dalton 00 used, I don't know what the factory strings would have been. However, it has a sticker inside that says specifically to use light gauge strings. I called them and asked about using the same Elixir HD Lights as on my Taylors, and they said that should not b e problem. the HD Lights are a combination of medium gauge strings 1, 2, 3, and light gauge 4, 5, and 6. I haven't tried these yet, but will at some point.

Thanks to all of you. I guess you are right, should have been Lights.
