Lucky to have heard some of his songs (starting around 1973) and to have learned to play a few of them.

Sad today as I read of his passing.

May he experience great freedom...

Godspeed.

I'll just add my name here to honour John. He was a peculiar talent. A man who could write a whole book in three verses and a chorus.

Our thoughts should now go to his wife who I believe is also a victim of this terrible virus.

My heart is broken. I kind of knew it was coming but I'm going to miss John Prine.

One of the great joys of my life was to watch John Prine perform for 50+ years. Thanks for the memories and great songs. Rest In Peace.

Music just lost a Magician. Thank you for the memories, John. He was to perform nearby this July and I was so looking forward to seeing him. I’m so sorry he had to leave under such horrible pain and suffering. RIP, John!

RIP John.

A song for those who came back but never really came home.

John had a great career and many fans. He was respected in every genre, and by all writers. He made it past three score plus 10. He did what he loved for a living, so he never worked a day in his life.

I'll not mourn his death, I'll celebrate his life.

Here here! What a tremendous influence on so many guitar players and singers he's been. Rest well John...go smoke that cigarette "nine miles long"!
