Aquila Alabastro strings

I put these on yesterday and I like the crisp tone of the Nylgut. The trebles hold their tone better up the neck than the Augustine Black classic trebles that they replaced.

How does the tension of the Alabastro trebles feel to you, compared to the
Aug Classics? I've tried a couple of variations of the Aquila Nylgut trebles-
most recently Alchemia normal tension- but the tension in the ones I've
tried was too high for my taste.

Thinking of trying one of their Terz sets, though, tuning up to G, and
seeing what happens on my 645 scale guitar.

Coming from a steel string player, I didn't notice any difference in tension.

I just ordered a couple sets of those and am looking forward to trying them. If I remember I will report back.

Finally got around to trying them. I'm very impressed with how well they stay in tune. In fact I've never come across a set of classical strings till now that from the moment you string them up to tension they stay in tune. I came back an hour later and they were only very slightly out of adjustment. A performing musician could put those on an hour before a concert and have no worries.

As for tone they seem a bit more mellow but well balanced. Nothing really sticks out which is not a bad thing at all. They have a different feel too, I almost want to say the treble strings feel gritty and since I don't use fingernails that's good as well.

I got 3 sets in total to try on different guitars so it will be interesting to compare. But so far so good.

I just took them off to try D'Addario XT normal tensions (I saved the Aquilas). I couldn't get a tone that I liked from the high tension trebles. I had recorded something with the Aquilas today so maybe I'll do a comparison later this weekend.

You could not get the treble tone from the Aquilas strings?

D'Addarios have been my go to strings for 20 years now. You almost can't go wrong with those. So if I switch to the Aquilas it would be a big step.

Well, fwiw I did think that the Aquila trebles were a bit less crisp or bright. They have power though. I know it's hard to use words to express tone.

I tried the Alabastros and liked them, but after some experimentation, I discovered that I liked the Knobloch CX actives better. They’re a bit “crisper” IMHO.
