Opportunity to exercise old school
With the fact that almost everything is shutdown and the current distancing requirements, it brought me back to old school workouts. It’s been a long time since I used anything outside of my fitness clubs machines and equipment.
Today I decided that enough was enough and broke out the old battle rope, lead sled and plate carrier vest. Loaded up the vest with 26 lbs of plates and went to town. I was surprised at how good it felt to workout this way. I actually think I was getting kind of soft just training in the gym and letting the machines do a large amount of the work. I also forgot how miserably good that vest felt when it was loaded... I guarantee I will be sore tomorrow, but back at it, so I guess being locked down has some good in it if you look for it. As long as I don’t get a cramp when I sit down and play later.

Don't forget pushups, sit ups, pull ups and .... remember the '70s - isometrics. Climb the stairs, walk....

I've been swimming 3 miles a week for years at a local gym. Figured I was in pretty good shape until I began walking again since the gym is shut down. Man, different muscle groups and different movements I guess because I get pretty tired after a short walk but it is getting better every day. After the gyms open again I may just modify my workout to mix both swimming and walking. Can't hurt I guess.

I did yard work yesterday. Everything hurts today. |

Just now
Mrs. Slothead: “You know what would be fun? Let’s move all the furniture in the basement and find a workout program.”
Me: “I’d rather take a nap.” Mrs. S: “Oh, come on. It’ll be fun!” 30 minutes later I have a groin pull and I need a shower.... |

I do push-ups and sit-ups every day. I also jump on my treadmill every day as well but that isn't old school.

Worked in the yard and worked on building a new chicken coop this morning. Went for a run this afternoon. Likely do a 1 hour yoga class this evening. Laugh all you want but yoga will be the hardest thing I do all day.

Need an incredible cardio workout? Grab a jump rope, in place 30-45 minutes, learning curve in order, beats the hell out of any cardio machine.

I got some resistance bands on amazon. They work really well, are cheap and take up almost no space. I also added a cheap weight bench and a few dumbells. Amazing what you can do with these few things!
