Default My 2 Martins are very lucky that........

...........I didn’t find out how great Yamahas are first. I now know why people love them. Great build quality, great balanced tone, great price.

I personally think that Yamaha builds by far the best sub-$1K steel strung acoustic guitars out there. What you get from Martin and Taylor in that price bracket is far less in terms of wood quality, fit&finish, and tonal quality.

I totally agree. Yamaha and Eastman are two really nice guitars. And not just for the money.

I'm a big fan. Great guitars. Quick question...do you prefer the 000-18 or OM28?

I would throw Alvarez in there and put them above Yamaha. But that's just my personal opinion. I will say that for sustain, I have not found anything that rings like one of the higher end Yamaha's. I don't know how they do it but it is very noticeable.

Ha, I prefer them both. I love vanilla ice cream and I love chocolate ice cream.

Both are just great. Love the short scale ease of play and simple appointments of the 00018 along with the smooth mahogany tone. Love the elegant OM28 with its deep lows and bell like highs. And the Yamaha seems to be right in between both.

Asian manufacturers are producing some very high value for money guitars. Very good for us buyers!

Same thing with the LS16. Sentiment aside the Yamaha sounds the best overall to me.

Every time I pick up my FG800, which is daily, I wonder how they can produce such a fantastic guitar for $200. It sounds marvelous and it sustains forever. Every time I play it I wonder if I got a really really good one or if they all sound as good as mine. Best bang for the dollar for about anything.

I played a Yamaha CSF1M parlor yesterday and I liked it a lot.

Now I really want to the new CSF-TA TransAcoustic parlor as soon as it's available.

Just last year I bought a Yamaha LS16 ARE on MF SDOTD. I started playing later in life and this was the guitar I decided I wanted after much research. I do love it and rate it the best of the guitars I own.

Just recently I bought a Recording King RO M9M and a RD M9M on MF SDOTD as well. They are both very nice sounding guitars as well. They just are not nearly as polished or adorned as the Yamaha. They were dirt cheap for all solid wood guitars though.

I bought a CSF1M parlor last summer. It shares a closet with $2-3K guitars. The little guy holds his own just fine. I've been wanting a CSF3M for months, but I always talk myself out of it because the laminate 1 series sounds so good, that I'm doubtful the all-solid 3 series is that much better. I've played them in the store and they don't sound any better than my laminate. Considering I bought it just for a couch and travel guitar, it just doesn't seem logical to get the all-solid for a tonal difference that may not even really be there. But still...

I was in a GC a couple of years ago and they had an LL16D marked down. I had never played one before, nor had much interest in it, but was killing time and picked it up to play and despite the dead strings on it, fell in love with it and bought it on the spot (I never impulse buy either). I am very happy with it and gets played more than the Taylor I spent much more money on. They make some fantastic guitars for the money.

I agree 100%!
I checked the Yamaha website and it looks like the CSF-TA is the CSF1M with the TransAcoustic reverb & chorus system added to it. I'm really looking forward to buying one....they should be available in early May.
