I thought this was about GUITAR technique?

My tip: Experiment with using a mic on the sound hole, even if you have a guitar with a bridge pickup installed. Using one or the other results in hugely different sound and nuances...

And using both can be pretty wild, too. I occasionally run the pickup output through my Fender Ultimate Chorus and the mic direct through the PA with nice results.

Scotty, try placing that mic straight out from the 12th-14th fret, about 4-6 inches away from the neck. You'll get a sound that's a bit truer to what you're hearing from the guitar. Putting it in front of the soundhole captures too much of the air moving from the bass and you get a real "woofy" sound (that's a technical term) that can be a bit hard to control.

Understood...I wasn't really talking about mic positioning, more about using a mic instead of a pickup...or using BOTH as an alternative. A lot of young players who were weaned on acoustic/electrics have never used a mic for performing or recording, and it might be a new trick to play with.

Back to the thread.
Never stop playing while doing a performance. The show must go ON.

practice in a pitch black room. Use your mind instead of your eyes.

Suggestion: don't try to learn to Kayak in Omaha. The winds there can be really fierce. One may drown. (I nearly did.) Otherwise, Omaha is a beautiful city but seems to have a paucity of Guitar dealers!

Cheers . . .
