Default Happy Birthday David Gilmour!

Here's to my all-time favorite guitarist. Curious to hear your thoughts on my rendition of the epic "Comfortably Numb" solo:

What's your favorite Pink Floyd solo?

The "time" solo. I think it's great youngsters are still learning to play it, like this one.

Nice job on the solo. Gilmour has a melodic soaring quality to his solo's that really draw you in and in my opinion are the heart of soul of many of Pink Floyd's best songs.
Comfortably Numb is right at the top of that list. The Another Brick in the Wall pt 2 solo is also pretty epic.

Thanks for the feedback guys! I agree that a lot of the solos are the heart and soul of Pink Floyd, as are the lyrics..."two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year"....

I use a custom Carvin guitar through a Mesa Mark IV. Ibanez Tube Screamer, some Delay and that's about it!

At one time, Jimmy Page was my guitar hero - but as I've matured a bit, it's become David Gilmour.

Maybe not as technical a guitarist as JP, but it's amazing how David can cut through you and lay your soul bare with so few notes.

No way I can pick a favorite bit by David, but my favorite overall guitarwork by him is SOYCD. I prefer to listen to parts I-IX all together. In fact I fall asleep to it regularly.

Nice job on your solo cover! Great feel, which is the most important part!

Thanks! Man, you said the most perfect description about Gilmour's playing. Totally cuts right through you and leaves your soul bare. That's really cool that you sleep to Crazy Diamond regularly.

Very nice playing Dan! Well done! And sounds terrific! And what a great looking guitar!

I enjoy all kinds of music, including David Gilmour's stuff over the years. I could never pick a favorite though. It always seems to be the one I am listening to!
