I'm really glad to hear about the good experience with Rainbow. I contacted them by email a few weeks ago about a used Collings they had and they were not so helpful. 2 days later they bumped the price by $1000 on their website! I just looked... they still have it ...at that bumped up price.. (sigh).
You should call and speak to Harvey about it. I'd bet if you explained what happened, he'd take care of you.

Very nice, congratulations!

Should make for a wonderful guitar with the advanced bracing & short scale. I imagine it to be a bit fuller or warmer than a typical J-45?

Enjoy.

Yes to both, but still very balanced. The short scale with AJ bracing is what really drew me to this model.

Congratulations, She's a Beauty & So Is Sheryl!

A couple of years ago, I played a Sheryl Crow Southern Jumbo, here in Rochester, at The House Of Guitars, a local Gibson Five-Star dealer. I found the guitar to sound great and play really easily. I plugged-in and I know you're gonna love the Trance Amulet M pickup/preamp system! Enjoy!

Gorgeous guitar! Congratulations.

I love the look of the SJ with a rectangular bridge (like my original from 1943), updated with fingerboard binding.

Gumby,

As you know, I have the same guitar, with the pearl-inlaid "modern" logo and crown rather than banner silkscreen and script logo on the headstock. Until seeing yours, mine was the only other one I was aware of with that feature!

I was in Bozeman when I received the guitar and swung by the plant while there and asked them why the headstock treatment was different from spec, and their response was a group photo of them shrugging their shoulders....

I love the sound and look of mine, but it has developed a distinct buzzing in the neck now when the middle strings are played, and the action has come up a bit.

Enjoy yours!

Fred

I think visually it has a lot of similarities with your '43 SJ, John.

Fred-

Does you have a asymmetrical bridge? Mine is thicker under the low E and thinner under the high e. I've seen this on the J-35 before, but don't recall it on a J-45 or AJ.

Yes -- it's the wedgey bridge on mine too.

That's how the original bridges were made. It resulted in a uniform amount of saddle protruding from the bridge from treble to bass side. Many of my favorite modern builders emulate this characteristic in their guitars.

Interesting. I was unaware of that. Thanks, John.
