We watched a documentary about Fogo Island and it looks like a beautiful place to live and set up shop Peggy. I don't remember the name of the lady who built the modern looking hotel there but it's encouraging to see someone with her means and passion return to her roots and bring life back into a previously declining fishing village. I seem to remember that she seems to have a passion for the arts as well?
Sorry to wander off topic and beautiful start on your new guitar BTW. |

Hi Tim,
Yes, it’s a pretty spectacular place! Zita Cobb is the name of the woman who came back to where she grew up and built the Fogo Island Inn. Her company, Shorefast, is the umbrella company for the Inn as well as Fogo Island Arts, and Fogo Island Fisheries, among others. It’s an interesting dynamic between her businesses and the local people. Not everyone here thinks it’s to their benefit that she’s come back to try and save the island and make her businesses economically viable but had she not, it’s very possible it would have gone the way of many outport communities in Newfoundland, the people would have been paid a fairly large sum of money(in their eyes) to move to the main island of Newfoundland and Fogo Island would have been deserted. Now I’m rambling. Thanks for following, Tim! Quote:

So interesting to read about another talented Canadian luthier, (with a bullet-proof pedigree) I hope the New Year brings you joy. The build looks magnificent, I will follow with envy. Curious if there is a sound clip anywhere of your parlor model? Looking for something special and from a fellow Canadian all the better!
