Default Heinonen SJ Cedar/Brazilian Build Thread

Hey All,

So I had the opportunity to get in on Drew's Feb: 2020 Built slot and was excited to share some of the progress that we are getting underway. I know he has been backed up, but when I receive build progress photos like these it makes it all well worth it and beyond. Drew has been nothing but exceptional to work with, this will be my first SJ that I have always dreamed about owning one after playing an Olson SJ once in my life. Enjoy the build and pictures, any questions just let me know glad to chat. Take Care!

Top Picked with in-between light/dark Cedar top. Middle of the road.

I had asked Drew by CHANCE is there any Clearance Brazilian And actually that answer was yes! I have a dark set and we agreed this will look sweet once put together. I got lucky he had a leftover set in the price range we could work out together.

Starting the Radial Design.

Default Dove Inlays

Drew was very kind and surprised me upgrading the dove inlays and logo to the doubled shell. since completion was taking a little longer then anticipated. Defiantly didn't expect this or would not of mentioned it. It looks beautiful.

Things are getting Exciting now!!

Olson Style Neck, Back Side

More pics to come soon.

Lucky you!
I love the SJ style of guitar with Florentine cutaway and cedar top.. Very olsonesque! I have never played an Olson or a Heinonen but I have played an Applegate SJ and I own a Charis GC.
This will be a fun thread to follow.

I really like the detailing. The double line border on the fretboard and Florentine cutaway are killer features. Congrats, it's really coming along nicely!

Mine is adi/madi I’ve played it almost every day since I received it. I’d be surprised if the same isn’t true about yours. KILLER

I am surprised by how slowly Drew's prices are progressing throughout the years - he's being too nice! He has such a beautiful aesthetic and sound. In my humble opinion, sound quality wise, I feel that he has surpassed that of his mentor (no offence to Jim Olson who is an absolute legend in his own right).

Always love looking at Heinonen build threads and having them pass through the store! I might have a couple of my own to share soon

You're going to love this guitar for sure! Can't wait to see it completed

I really like the rosette on this guitar! Never seen the pieces numbered with AA, BB, etc. in the build process before either.
