Default NGD!!! *Marc Beneteau OM Cutaway* w/ Torrefied Sitka & Indian Rosewood w/ photos

Hey AGF fam,

This little beauty landed on my front door step yesterday and after spending nearly 3 hrs playing it I eventually had to peel my butt off the chair, have a coffee and take some photos.

I'd forgotten just how amazing Marc's guitars play and sound. For my hands I think Marc might have the very best "standard" neck profile and bridge height/fingerboard height setup for how I play. Not sure how to explain it but the more demanding pieces in my back pocket always become easier on his guitars. The sitka has a nice, dry, midrange bark even with the rosewood but a thick treble with a singing quality to it, as all Marc's guitars have. Just a dream for fingerstyle!

This would be my third commission from Marc, but we are looking at a Baritone later this year as well. Have heard from many that his Baritones are sublime, so looking at wood choices already - stay tuned. In the meantime, here's some shots from the studio. I will be featuring this build on EP. 3 of "My Favorite Luthiers". EP. 2 is already in the works with Rebecca Urlacher and will be visiting Holland next week so can also include clips/photos of Karlijn's German/Camatillo OM build and get her thoughts on it as well.

Anywho...will get a sound clip captured here soon, for anyone curious. Happy as a clam with this Sitka beauty. Very stark contrast to the darker, richer sounding Italian/African Blackwood Taran recently received.

Back to pickin'.

I think so. Its very comfy and will make a great concert guitar when things hopefully are back to normal.

When the sunshines on you, it really shines on you. Two world class guitars in such a short time. And, on top of that, back to Holland! You da man!

To say I'm grateful would be a colossal understatement. I'm sure you know better than most the joy of getting to know several good guitars from the same builder and appreciating their small bits of personality that shine through. Marc is so consistent it's crazy. Guess that happens after 40 years at the workbench!

Congrats on this beauty! This really is a work of art in all manners. One of the best I have seen in a while. I love pinless bridges and wish every guitar I owned had them. Enjoy using this in your craft.

Best,

Mac

A real beauty. That sitka is about as good looking as it gets. I'm a fan of torrefied and imagine it will sound as good as it looks...Enjoy. PS: Just drove through the Tidewater area and across the Bay Bridge Tunnel on my way home to Delmarva.

Wow…really beautiful! Congratulations!
I have never had the pleasure of playing a Beneteau. Looking at the pictures, reading the rave reviews, and listening to YouTube videos makes me want to have one on my lap right now.
