Default What the heck is this?

Hi kids, I got this guitar from a good friend. He is quite a prominent figure in the pop music scene and says this was used in many recordings, Have lost recent contact with him for the moment and trying to figure out what this guitar is. I understand that this is primarily an acoustic site and I am new to it, but seeing the electric threads I thought that maybe I can see if anyone may know what this baritone guitar is. I see no lables or identification and it's alot of fun to play but just wondering what it is. This is my first time posting, so I hope it works. Thanks to all.

Default Looks like I did something wrong.

Being one that seldom reads directions, it looks as if I may need to. Sorry guys. I did not see the pics, so I must have done something wrong. Will be back.

That looks like a Danelectro Longhorn. Could be a copy, can't see enough in the small pics. Is there a logo?

Default Original?

Thanks for the reply Bob. I do believe that it is original. It appears fairly old. I do not see any logo, will look at it closer today and try to get some better pics.

Hello and welcome to the forum! Glad you joined...

If you post larger pictures at your picture site and then embed the links, we will have a better idea.

Default more pics

Hopefully these are a little easier to see. Anyway, as you can see, it's a pretty beat up ride and I still can't find any real identification except for the "DELUXE" on the tuners. Perhaps I will open it up.

That is indeed a Danelectro Longhorn. The knobs caused a question mark. There are supposed to be concentric volume/tone controls but it looks like the Volume knobs are gone. You might surf over to DANELECTRO and see if they will sell you some! The tuning keys are Kluson Deluxes.

Default Mostly for Bob

Thank you Bob. You have been a great help. Why the knobs are missing in the first pllace, I don't know, but I will indeed check out Danelectro. I understand that David Lindley used this guitar alot. Anyway, thanks again!Just thought of something. I have another question. Do you happen to know how, if possible, I can find a serial number, or do you know what year it may have been built? Appreciate all you have done already.

Here's a pic of Lindley's guitars that shows one that could be yours.

I notice in the Lindley pic that the same big white knobs are missing.

Some people remove knobs to reduce accidental changes while playing. That might be the case here... If so, "knobs off" may be more "authentic" if you are going for the "this is the instrument so-and-so played" shtick.
