I certainly took your comment as light-hearted, and probably most saw it that way too, and then extended the joke...

Now, if it had been a. Bottle of Titebond 2 or Titebond 3, that would be a different story…

Very disappointed.
After the discussions over the last couple of pages, I expected to see a bottle of craft glue, or even a smashed up glue stick shown in these photos for a quick giggle!!!

Probably wanted to avoid repeating a sticky situation...

(Dad joke warning)

Inner laminates are mahogany, by the way.

Do you know the aim behind laminating the sides? Stiffness? I wonder how two laminated pieces of mahogany differ from a solid mahogany side?

I believe the laminated sheets are stiffer than a solid piece of wood. Part of the Somogyi building theory relies of a very stiff rim to support the plates.

Leo and I have decided to move this guitar in a completely different direction with this build.

1) We are going to be switching to a purple terrycloth back. Leo has been saving this terrycloth for a really special project; it's from a super coveted stash the Ervin gave him back during his apprenticeship. It's been curing for 80 years. 100% Egyptian cotton with super rare purple dye. When I saw the coloring and texture, I just knew it was the right material for the project. Leo is also going to be using his personal stash of NOS Titebond to affix the back. As you can imagine, I'm very excited.

2) The flamed mahogany will be repurposed as a cornhole platform. Leo put an example cornhole bean bag on the mahogany for illustrative purposes.

The blue will really complement the rosette.

It is interesting to see how lightly braced the back is, when compared to non-Somogyi style builders, like Slobod, Sexauer, Kukich, etc. (three vs four back braces)

I love that shade of purple, especially with the flecks. I just want to know how you luck into these wonderful opportunities? Can't be charisma!

Yes, agreed. I need to stop by Leo’s shop and get my eyes on this stuff first hand. Always fun to see it in person.
